Travel | Italy Diaries Day 1-3

France

As you may know if you follow me on Instagram you would of seen that I travelled through France & to Italy for a week. I thought I would document it all on what I experienced and the things I got up to while I was away. If your interested then keep reading!

France

Day 1

Early start to the day, being up at 6am, double checking everything is where it should be. 7am strikes and we head to the coach station waiting to get on. We head off not long after 8am towards Dover Docks, picking up people at different locations along the way. The coach was filled with the smell of rich coffee, that weird air con smell and cups of soup. The journey itself was quite interesting, believe it or not, seeing different sights along the way, which is something I prefer about coaches, as you see a lot more of the world around you, rather than seeing the world flash by you out of a window. Don't get me wrong, I love flying, but I like to try new things and I am definitely glad I tried out a coach trip with the family.

Travelling is the only time where I actually feel relaxed and not stressed. As a lot of the time I feel anxious to get things done, no matter where I am, work, home, out with friends, I'm always on the go doing something, especially blogging.

France

After a 4 hour drive down the UK to Dover, we finally boarded the 12:15pm ferry. Baring in mind a coach trip abroad as well as being on a ferry was a first for me, as I used to absolutely hate boats when I was younger (watching Titanic may have made that fear worse). Dover to Calais' ferry was quite a nice experience, except the slight bit of sea sick I experience for the first 20 minutes, I found it rather relaxing watching the different boats sail by, the waves lapping over each other. The swaying of the boat was definitely something I wasn't keen on, but soon got used to it. Reaching Calais and driving past various places, we came across "The Jungle". Seeing this refugee camp in person made me realise what we see & hear on the news is actually happening in this world. It really made me think about these things, how we take so many things for granted, when there's people out there who have absolutely nothing. They had to leave their homes, belongings, loved ones and their home country because of the disastrous things that are actually happening over there.

Getting to my point, we should be happy with what we've got who is in our life etc. As you could be in a worse situation.

Moving further down through France, watching the fields full of beautiful radiant yellow rape seed flowers and vine fields filled with oddly shaped trees. We also witnessed a glimpse of an old war memorial, which was a pretty awesome sight to capture. Stopping from time to time to have a leg stretch and a bite to eat. The North of France is actually quite flat I realise, until you drive deeper down south where it becomes rather mountainous.

Finally reaching Dijon, we checked into the hotel of Kyriad, which was filled with modern interior and dark but pleasant lighting.

Day 2

Being woken up by the hotel phone ringing at 6:34am, the wake up call, we headed down to breakfast to be greeted by a counter filled with, my favourites, croissants. As well as ham, cheese, cereals, coffee, fruit juice etc. You can't beat a proper French croissant! Heading off again at 8am sharp through more mountainous parts of France, driving through Lyon and seeing all the beautiful Parisian buildings as well as an absolutely massive river running through the city. I would love to visit Lyon as well as Nice, which we also drove through. Lyon & Nice are definitely on my travel bucket list!

Further along the journey, we stopped off at a point overlooking Monte Carlo.

Finally reaching Italy, where you drive along an extremely long motorway made of mainly bridges and tunnels through the mountains. Not so bad when all you can see is Italian houses, the Mediterranean sea, harbours filled with expensive yachts and hundreds of green houses filled with beautiful flowers. As Italy is known to grow a lot of flowers which explains the amount of green houses piled all around the hills and mountains.

Italy

Around 6pm, we reached our destination, Hotel Nettuno. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco (my fave!) and were sat down in a nice Italian interior bar & eating lounge, while they gave us our room keys. I have to say, the staff spoke extremely good English! They were very nice people as well from as much as I seen and spoke to them throughout the stay.

Italy Sunrise

Our rooms were very pleasant, especially with a balcony overlooking the mediterainean sea! You will see how excited I was about this over in my Italy Vlog on my YouTube channel. Unpacking and freshening up for dinner within an hour, we had minestrone soup for starters, chicken and potatoes for our main course and Italian (delicious) ice cream for dessert. As I explain in my Italy Vlog. I didn't record a lot of the food while in Italy, as they become rather concerned and offended when you do this. I managed to recorded a couple of meals though thankfully!

Italian Hotel Breakfast

Day 3

Our first official day in Italy was spent exploring Diano Marina, which was the city we stayed in. The hotel had fresh bread rolls delivered every morning from the local bakery, which was brilliant I thought. Everything in Italy is made fresh and bought fresh everyday, which I certainly prefer! It's definitely made me think about my diet back home. All the preservatives that are inject into the food that we eat. It's made me really think about starting to eat organic food as it's better for your body and mind.

Diano Marino

After breakfast, we had a nice stroll down the hill to the coast road where the beach was filled with palm trees, which you will see on my Instagram that I obviously had to get a shot of.

Wandering around the Italian fashion shops and stopping in a café for a quick hot drink. I chose an extremely thick Lindt hot chocolate that was very rich before heading off back towards the hotel, when we came across a bar called Bar Eden (also mentioned and shown in my Italy Vlog), which you would of seen on Instagram yet again that we ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice. I really wish I could speak Italian as that was the main barrier of the holiday - communication. The lovely people who worked in the bar brought us some cute little bar snacks too - how nice!

Diano Marino

Back at the hotel, enjoying the beautiful view with a nice cup of tea was definitely one way to relax. Later heading down to dinner in a cute little LBD I wore.

Diano Marino

Our 3 course meal was leek and potato soup, ham salad and apple cake, which was lush! I joined in with a hilarious game of Bingo afterwards, as who doesn't love a good game of Bingo! It's not just for older people you know!

Diano Marino

I will end the first 3 days here as I don't want to ramble on too much as I'd prefer you guys to not get bored when reading my content. Keep watch for Days 4-6!

Thanks for reading!
